LONDON – Arizona Track and Field alumni Sage Watson represented the Wildcats at the 2017 IAAF Championships in London Thursday, competing in the 400-meter hurdles final.

The 2017 NCAA Champion and 2016 Olympian clocked a time of 54.92 today, good for a sixth place finish. Watson took second in her heat in both qualifying rounds with times of 55.06 and 55.05 to reach the final, representing Canada.

During her senior season in 2017, Watson did not lose a 400-meter hurdles race all season and eventually took home the Pac-12 Championship and the National Championship. At the NCAA Championships, Watson clocked a personal-best time of 54.50, which is the second-fastest time in Arizona history.

There will be two more Wildcats competing at the IAAF World Championships tomorrow as Pau Tonnesen begins his decathlon at 2 a.m. MST and Edgar Rivera-Morales will compete in the first round of the high jump at 3:15 a.m. MST. Tonnesen will be representing Spain and Rivera-Morales will be representing Mexico.
