Man killed believed to be suspect who shot at Forest Service Employee

The FBI Phoenix Field Office is investigating an assault on a federal officer that happened North of Globe, just off the San Carlos Reservation.

Around 2:00am on Saturday,July 15, 2017, law enforcement officers with the U.S. Forest Service and San Carlos Apache Tribal Police Department, were searching for the suspect who fired shots at a forest service employee in Forest Lakes, AZ back on July 4th, came across an individual who fired on officers. Officers fired back, killing the suspect.

This person who was killed is believed to be the same person who shot at a Forest Service Employee in Forest Lakes, Arizona back on July 4, 2017.

Investigators have identified the individual but are waiting notification of next of kin.

Investigators say this is an ongoing investigation.
