Amber Alert canceled; Three kids found unharmed

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON-It was one of the more dramatic Amber Alerts we've seen, three children taken from their grandmother's home, in Marana, on Monday were found safe Tuesday.

The grandmother, Danese Harnesberry had legal custody and had just argued with the kid's mother when, detectives said, the mom piled the children into a car and drove off.

On Tuesday morning, 16-year old Parvati, 14-year old Ramachandra, and 11-year old Malchiyah Harnesberry  were found safe in Globe, by an Arizona Dept. of Public Safety Patrol Trooper.

Nancy Balding lives next door, she said, “I'm glad they were found, and I'm glad everything is OK.”

Balding's been friends with the grandmother for nearly a decade, and has seen the kids grow up.  So when she heard the children were missing, she said, “I called 911 and I had to walk over there with the phone and she (Danese) said that her kids had been kidnapped and her daughter took them.”

Pima County Sheriff's investigators said they developed information that led them to Globe. That's where they found the children's mother, Bedajii Harnesberr, along with two younger children.

The 33-year mother remained behind bars in the Gila County Jail awaiting extradition to Pima County. She's charged with 15 counts ranging from child endangerment domestic violence to child abuse, and attempted aggravated assault and burglary.

The children were turned over to the Department of Child Services.

Balding added, “I hope it gets solved somehow, I hate to see families tore apart.”
