Tucson legend Nico Perez discusses Pacquiao's controversial loss

Posted: Updated:

Pima County Sports Hall of Famer Nicky "Nico" Perez was a 3-time world champ as a pro boxer and started his career 42-1 until a tough loss to Salvador Sanchez.

He's now a pro boxing referee, and the proud Tucsonan chimed in on the controversial loss by Manny Pacquiao in his bout against Jeff Horn.

Despite landing nearly twice as many punches as Horn, Pacquiao lost via a unanimous decision in a bout that many are saying shows the "corruption" in boxing.

Horn won in his hometown of Brisbane, Australia thanks to some "kind" judges, and boxing experts are saying they're not ruling out a "fixed fight."

News 4 Tucson Sports Director Paul Cicala goes in-depth on the corruption in boxing and the controversial outcome of the Pacquiao bout with a unique perspective from Tucson fight legend Nicky "Nico" Perez. To see the story as-aired-on-NBC please click on icon above.
