Reid Park Zoo keeps guests and animals cool for the summer

TUCSON – Reid Park Zoo is trying to keep guests and animals happy this summer.

Zoo spokesperson Clara Cobb said the zoo opens early and intentionally schedules night events.

“The animals are absolutely more active in the mornings and in the evenings,” she said, “and our staff does an amazing job providing misters and showers and ice pops to keep them engaged as the temperatures soar.”

Saturday night was Brew at the Zoo. The event was only for adults who were at least 21 years old.

Buster Garvin from Old Bisbee Brewing Company shared a few beers that worked well in the hot weather.

“It's a lot cooler down in Bisbee, and we definitely notice coming up here,” he said. “But we're glad to come out here and do this, helps the zoo out and we get to see a lot of people. A lot of people get to see us.”

The zoo hosts Summer Safari Nights every Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. until August 4.
