4 Your Health: Sign language disconnect; prescription drug costs around the world

Posted: Updated:

Tucson- New research reveals prescription drug costs vary widely among high income countries with universal healthcare.

The study looked at primary care prescriptions in ten countries, not including the United States. Costs for some medications were over 600 percent higher in Canada which has a mixed system of private and public financing for prescriptions.

Sign language mixed message

Teaching sign language to children with Cochlear implants may delay their verbal development.

A new study found children whose families used spoken language rather than sign language were more likely to achieve verbal skills similar to their normal hearing peers. Children who used sign language were also more likely to fall behind in reading comprehension by late elementary school.
