N4T Investigators: Lyfted Identity?

Posted: Updated:

Christina Goudreau wants to grow a consulting business that helps schools identify and treat students suffering from childhood trauma.

Problem is, something is standing in her way.

Goudreau says someone stole her identity, opened up a Lyft account, and then racked up a bad credit history.

"My question is just how this able to happen at a company that size, " said Goudreau.

Goudreau says she first noticed the problem when she checked her Dun and Bradstreet number.

Turns out it was being used by someone else.

"A Dun and Bradstreet number is very important," said Alan Schultz with the Better Business Bureau.

"It's just like someone stealing your identity or someone getting a hold of your social security number. For a business it can cause all kinds of problems with your business," said Schultz.

After contacting Lyft, Goudreau found out her Duns number was being used by a Lyft driver registered in Tempe, AZ.

News 4 Tucson Investigator Nick VinZant contacted the person registered under Goudreau's Duns number.

Despite repeated calls and emails they never answered.

Goudreau partly blames Lyft for the loss of her identity.

She says that while the company has repeatedly told her they're investigating what happened, nothing has been done.

"I feel Lyft is responsible for letting this happen and then when it was brought to their attention not really doing much to remedy the situation," said Goudreau.

News 4 Tucson also contacted Lyft, they told us they are investigating.
