4 Your Health: Transgender adults face health woes; men tight-lipped about health

Posted: Updated:

Tucson- A new study reveals transgender adults may face more medical issues than the general population.

Questionnaires from over 300,000 people show gender minorities were more likely to struggle with concentration, decision making, and their overall health.

They were also more likely to be overweight, have depression and be uninsured.

Men private about health

A new national survey found men under 35 were 90 percent less likely than women, of the same age, to talk to family members about genetic health issues, like cancer or mental illness.

Experts involved in the study said it's important for fathers and grandfathers to have honest discussions with their children about their family health history.
