Friday's Tucson Forecast: So long, below normal temps

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - The heat is on after today.

Daytime highs peak in the mid 80s for Metro Tucson this afternoon, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. These temperatures run roughly 6-8° below mid May standards. Of note, lighter winds prevail heading into the weekend. Northwest winds today should be in the 10-15 MPH range.

High pressure builds over the desert over the next several days, serving as the catalyst to warmer weather. Low 90s return tomorrow, followed by a daily threat of triple digit heat next week. The most likely days Tucson hits 100° are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

So far, Tucson has recorded 2 days at or above 100° this year.
