Thursday's Tucson Forecast: Last call for gusty winds

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - One more blustery afternoon before a big warming trend.

A departing cold front cranks west-northwest winds up to the 15-25 MPH range today, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Daytime highs to round out the work week top out in the mid 80s, which is 6-8° below normal. Ample sunshine prevails with the breezes finally taking a break by Friday.

Then the heat is on.

High pressure emerges from Sonora starting this weekend. Afternoon temperatures Saturday return to the low 90s. Triple digit heat looks likely in Tucson Sunday and Monday, followed by highs in the upper 90s. So far in 2017, Tucson has recorded 2 days at or above 100°.

Lows range from the upper 50s Friday morning to the mid/upper 60s early next week.

Watch Jeff for a complete look at your 4WARN extended forecast today at noon. Follow Jeff's weather updates on Facebook, Twitter and his blog.
