Hittin' the Trails 4 You: Sendero Esperanza Trail

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - Its Spanish translation is "the hope trail". For those hoping for a good weekend hike, look no further than the Tucson Mountains.

The Sendero Esperanza Trail starts flat and sandy, but gets progressively tougher. Desert flora and fauna provides a colorful palette flanking the path. Much like other trails in these mountains, there's several abandoned mines. As always, exercise caution around them.

All told, the Sendero Esperanza Trail is about an 8 mile round trip hike to Wasson Peak. Expect a 1,300 foot elevation gain.
