Thursday's Tucson Forecast: Ice Break odds increasing

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - From the 12th 90° day of the month to a triple digit threat.

High pressure continues to be stalled out across the Western US, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. This feature locks in warmth and sunshine, as daytime highs reach the low 90s this afternoon.

Temperatures climb into the upper 90s this weekend, running 10-15° above average for late April standards. Sunday's forecast high of 98° would be a few degrees shy of tying the record set in 2012. There is a 21% chance Tucson reaches triple digits Sunday afternoon, which would mark the 3rd earliest 100° day ever recorded.

Early next week features highs in the low to mid 90s. Gusty winds make a return to the forecast as early as Monday, courtesy of a storm system passing north of the Sonoran Desert.
