Hittin' the Trails 4 You: Garwood Dam

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - Saguaro National Park East is home to an intricate web of hiking trails. Some take you into the Rincon Mountains. Others, like the trek to Garwood Dam, keep you in the desert.

The hike to Garwood Dam starts at the Douglas Spring Trailhead, leading you to the Garwood and Carrillo Trails. About two miles later, the dam appears. Built in the late 1940s by Nelson Garwood, the dam provided water to his ranch home.

All in all, weekend warriors can plan on investing 2-3 hours for this hike.
