4 Your Health: Surviving a heart attack with exercise and sweet treatment for diabetes

Posted: Updated:

Tucson- Although fresh fruit contains sugar it may lower the risk of diabetes and complications from the disease.

A new study followed a half million people in China for seven years.

People who ate large amounts of fresh fruit were less likely to develop diabetes than their peers. And for people who already had diabetes, fresh fruit was linked to fewer complications and a lower risk of death.

Regular exercise not only helps prevent a heart attack it improves the odds of surviving one.

Researchers in Denmark compared the exercise habits of people who died immediately from a heart attack to those who survived. The most active patients were about half as likely to die as those who were sedentary. And even light to moderate amounts of exercise improved survival by 32 percent.
