Florence Moss says all she wanted was a simple funeral plan.
"When we both sat down, I said all I want to pay for is cremation," said Moss.
When Moss took a closer look at the package she paid for though, she found out that's not what she got.
"I feel like I've been ripped off," said Moss.
Turns out Moss paid nearly $900 dollars for a box to hold her urn, $400 dollars so that her grandchildren could be cremated, and $475 for travel expenses in case she died overseas.
"At my age I don't travel anymore. I barely make it to the grocery store once a week," said Moss.
News 4 Tucson Investigator Nick VinZant spoke with several Tucson funeral homes about what a basic cremation should cost.
Funeral Directors say they're seeing more and more seniors paying too much for pre-paid packages.
"A typical cremation should cost around $1,700 dollars," said Joseph Stone with Brings Funeral Home.
Stone says that when buying a cremation package people should ask for an itemized list of exactly what they are paying for.
"It's important to understand in making arrangements exactly what your selections are. What urns you've chosen, what containers, caskets, you've chosen. And above all ask questions," said Stone.
Moss, admits she didn't get and itemized list or ask enough questions.
She says she wasn't feeling well and trusted the national company she was working with.
"I though the total amount I was paying for was just the cremation," said Moss.
In all Moss paid more than $2,200 for her cremation package.
