Marana police searching for serial robber

TUCSON -

He has robbed drug stores, fast food restaurants, gas stations and a hotel. Marana police want the man identified and arrested.

Aug. 19, a man walked into the Holiday Inn Express off of Interstate 10 and Cortaro Farms Road. He demanded cash from the clerk.

Det. James Jolly showed News 4 Tucson surveillance video of the robbery. He pointed out where the suspect is holding up an implied firearm over the counter.

The video also showed the suspect count down from 10 as the clerk opened the cash register.

“This frightened the victim in this case, because she felt once he got to zero, he was going to shoot her,” said Jolly.

He described the suspect as an African American man, 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet, 2 inches tall, about 30 to 40 years old, weighs about 200 pounds and has a medium build.

“We really need to find this guy," said Jolly. "We don't want somebody like this out in the community preying on those that are good decent hard working people, especially during the holidays when crime seems to amp up.”

The suspect also committed four armed robberies and an attempted armed robbery in the county. His crime spree began in August and ended on September 2nd. In each case he implied a weapon.

“It could very well be a firearm, it could be his fingers, but we're not going to take the chance and say it's his finger when it could be a firearm,” said Jolly.

Jolly said they have run out of leads. They are depending on the public to help them identify the suspect so they can arrest him.

Anyone with information is advised to call 88-CRIME or 911.
