Fire burning near Carr Canyon

Update 9:15pm: Officials say the fire is now estimated at 20 acres in size. No officials evacuations are now in place. But, residents have been asked to be ready to leave.

Residents are being asked to evacuate because of a fire burning near Carr Canyon.

The United States Forest Service says the fire is currently burning on a ridgeline between Carr and Ramsey Canyon.

The fire is estimated at 50 acres.

Several structures are near the fire. Crews have started buffer fires to establish space between the fire and homes.

Officials say that because of it's location, they do not expect the fire to grow substantially.

Firefighters from nearly half a dozen agencies are responding.
