AZ football team scrambles for recruits after "de-commit"

Posted: Updated:

When four-star athlete Greg Johnson publicized his de-commitment from the Wildcats football team over the past weekend, running back Nathan Tilford instantly became the highest-rated recruit in Arizona’s 2017 recruiting class.

Arizona is hopeful Tilford won’t follow down Johnson’s path since the Rivals.com four-star recruit will be visiting the Arizona campus this weekend as the headliner in a weekend of visitors for the Wildcats.

Tilford is prized as one of the more significant recruits in Arizona’s 2017 class because of the lack of depth at the running back position. This position suffered dearly this season because of injuries and off-the-field issues.

With the addition of Taylor, Arizona expects to have a deep, talented depth chart at the position next season, with the expected returns of Nick Wilson, J.J. Taylor and Zach Green.

According to Rivals.com, Tilford is listed at 6-foot-1 and 201 pounds, rushing for 2, 031 yards and 30 touchdowns at Colony High School in Ontario, California as a senior.
