In Arizona's exhibition opener, the Cats would go on an early 22-0 run and jump out to a 26-3 lead against the College of Idaho and never look back in the blowout 86-35 victory.
Sophomore guard Allonzo Trier did -not- suit up. There's been speculation from many that he may be ineligible. Coming into the matchup, Sean Miller has had "no comment" on Trier when asked whether he'd play.
In addition, sophomore Chance Comanche didn't suit up because of academic issues.
Still, Arizona didn't seem to need these players because the Cats were so amazing they lead 50-9 at halftime.
Freshman Kobi Simmons led the Wildcats with 17 points. Another freshman Rawle Alkins scored 11 points and had 3 assists, while 7 foot freshman Lauri Markkanen had 8 points and 10 rebounds.
Arizona Freshman Ray Smith had to leave the game because of a leg injury. His status is still unclear.
Here is Coach Sean Miller's statement on Comanche issued before the game. "Chance Comanche will not play in tonight's game due to his own lack of academic responsibility. As a member of our basketball program, you are a student and an athlete, and you are expected to do the best of your ability in both areas. It is not an option to compete and be held accountable on the court but not in the classroom. This suspension is indefinite."
