PHOENIX (AP) - A Republican Arizona state Senate candidate is shocking gun control advocates by sharing details about shooting and killing his mother in apparent self-defense more than 50 years ago. Bobby Wilson says he shot and killed his mother after she shot at him with a rifle one night in their Oklahoma farmhouse in 1963.
PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich is warning state residents to beware of online romance scams after an investigation found Phoenix area residents were trying to wire thousands of dollars overseas. The attorney general's office said Tuesday the scammers take advantage of people looking for romantic partners on dating websites and social media, pretending to be interested in their victims before luring them to send money overseas.
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers say they have arrested three U.S. citizens and a Mexican man in a pair of smuggling attempts, one resulting in the seizure of more than 14 pounds of methamphetamine and the other in the capture of two handguns. The agency said Tuesday the seizures occurred over the weekend at the San Luis crossing on the Arizona-Mexico border.
PHOENIX (AP) - Police in Phoenix say a man and seven juveniles including three teenage girls are in custody after they were allegedly involved in two armed robberies. Some members of the group allegedly robbed a convenience store around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday. Police say one person pointed a gun at an employee and stole money from the cash register while other members of the group took cigarettes and other items from the store. About 20 minutes later, the same group allegedly robbed a different convenience store.
