TUCSON -

Pima County detectives have identified a suspect in a series of convenience store robberies in the county. Officials say he may be tied to some city crimes, as well.

The Quick Mart at 4820 East Benson Highway was robbed at gunpoint on Sunday afternoon. The suspect is a man that is well-known to law enforcement.

"We're looking for Zeb Alvarado," Det. Eric Heath said. “He's hit at least seven Circle K's and one Quick Mart that we can tie him to.”

Heath said the 28-year-old Alvarado is becoming more brazen.

“He's showing a progression," Heath said. "When he first started, it was simply, he was walking in, he would have some change in his hand, he asked to make change, when the cash register was open, he said, 'Now okay, I'm robbing you' and basically just took the money, to then stating 'okay, now I got a gun'. Now, he is showing that he has a gun.”

The Quick Mart is a busy one. Students from a nearby school drop by after classes. There is always a possibility they may be there when its being robbed.

Alma Leon frequents the convenience store and is very concerned.

“Very much  so, especially the one by my house on Benson Highway," said Leon. "They were robbed three days ago and I hear it's the same guy."

The suspect is described as a Hispanic or Middle Eastern male with black hair and beard. He was said to be approximately 5 foot, 7 inches to 5 foot, 10 inches tall and weigh 170 to180 pounds.

He was·last seen wearing a black beanie, camouflage jacket and black pants

Leon works in a retail store and has been a victim  of a robbery in another instance.

“They come in and out, they do whatever they want," she said. "It's scary. We are in fear of our lives “

The FIST unit is out looking for Alvarado. If you have information, call 911 or 88-CRIME.
