Crime Trackers: Thieves steal over 20 designer sunglasses

Posted: Updated:
TUCSON -

Some shady shoplifters got away with high-end sunglasses.

The cost of the designer eyewear was more than $350 a pair.

For 25 years, Dr. Michael Zucker has owned Accent On Vision. He said they carry the largest selection of eyewear in the city. The thieves struck in late March.

"They just took them, hid them and walked out the door," he said. "They did this while our staff was busy with other people."

It was surveillance cameras that caught the man and woman walking into Accent On Vision on North Oracle Road. Once inside, they made their way to the sunglasses area, where the camera caught them stealing Versace, Prada and Dolce Gabbana sunglasses. Some of the glasses sold for over $350 a pair. Over 20 pairs were stolen.

It happened over a two day period.

"We didn't realize it the first day," said Zucker. "By the second day, when we found out, we saw them and they ran, but it was too late for us to do anything."

The Pima County Sheriff's Department was called, and they are looking for the suspects.

"The male is described as African American male," said Deputy Ryan Inglett. "He was last seen wearing a sport jacket [and] jeans. He's about 5-foot-8[-inches] to 5-foot[-9-inches], [and] about a 170 pounds."

The female can be seen in the security footage. Zucker had a message for the pair.

"Get a job. Go somewhere else. We work hard for the money," he said. "It's not an easy business and just to steal stuff like that is kind of disgusting."
