4 Your Health: How chiropractic care can help with vertigo

Posted: Updated:

Tucson -  Jason Day is one of the best golfers in the world and he's reached the top of his game despite battling vertigo.

Vertigo is very common and causes dizziness, a loss of balance, and nausea. And it nearly cost Jason Day hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Day was on the 9th hole during Round 2 of last year's US Open at Chambers Bay. Suffering from vertigo, Day became dizzy and stumbled to the ground.

He battled through the symptoms and finished the tournament in ninth place.

Day has been treated for vertigo many times over the past several years.

But Dr. Stephen Kenworthy of Orange Grove Chiropractic in Tucson said a chiropractor can help people, like Day, who suffer from vertigo.

Day's vertigo is linked to inner ear problems.  Dr. Kenworthy said chiropractic adjustments can help with ear issues and other problems that cause vertigo.

"There are four different areas and we can work with all of them," said Dr. Kenworthy. "The most obvious ones are the upper cervical area and the jaw area, getting those aligned so they're functioning properly."

A chiropractor will also recommend exercises and diet options to help relieve symptoms of vertigo.
