Ari Alexander joined the KVOA Sports Team in January 2016 as a sports anchor and reporter.
Ari comes to News 4 Tucson from Memphis, TN, where he grit and grinded for two years covering the Memphis Grizzlies and the NBA, along with Arizona grad Josh Pastner’s Memphis Tigers and the SEC.
In his two years at WMC in Memphis, Ari anchored, reported, produced, filmed and even lost three-point shooting contests to Tiger basketball players.
A 2013 graduate of the Missouri School of Journalism, Ari’s passion is sports storytelling, something he’s been fortunate enough to receive recognition for.
Ari is a two-time Mid-America Emmy winner in the category of Student Production while at KOMU in Columbia, MO. He has also been recognized with a regional first place SPJ Mark of Excellence Award, as well as a national second place SPJ Mark of Excellence Award.
While at WMC, Ari was recognized with a second place Tennessee AP Award for TV Sports Reporting in a Large Market, and is currently nominated for Best Sports News Feature in the Mid-South Emmys.
If you see Ari at your game, don’t be afraid to say hi – he’ll usually be the one with the camera singing along to the PA warmup music.
Ari loves golfing, playing pickup hoops, hip-hop music and sushi, but he says not necessarily in that order.
Mostly, he loves talking sports, so join the conversation on Twitter at @AriA1exander or e-mail him at email@example.com.
