Widow of TPD Officer Erik Hite receives grant for foundation

TUCSON -

The widow of a Tucson Police officer killed in the line of duty, received a grant Friday from a special foundation.

Nohemy Hite, the wife of Officer Erik Hite, was awarded a $15,000 check from the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation.

Chris Kyle is known as the ‘American Sniper’. He started the foundation before he was killed, and his wife continues it.

Erik was shot and killed in June of 2008, while in pursuit of a gunman.

Shortly after his death, his wife started the Erik Hite Foundation, to provide child care and outreach programs for families and children of first responders.

People, she said, we need to remember.

“They are humans and we need to provide that support from the community to them and say that we thank them for what they do,” Nohemy said.
