Hittin' the Trails 4 You: Fall colors in the Santa Ritas & Huachucas

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - Fall colors fading fast atop Mount Lemmon, so we're "Hittin' the Trails" at other places where the foliage is reaching its peak.

South of Sierra Vista resides Ramsey Canyon. The Hamburg Trail is a good moderate hike in the Huachuca Mountains. This links up with the Bledsoe Loop at Ramsey Canyon Preserve. Along with the leaves, expect to see lots of wildlife.

Madera Canyon should have Fall colors for much of November. The rugged Super Trail crosses a stream bed several times, flanked by foliage and dramatic views of Mount Wrightson. For the ultimate weekend warrior, this hike affords a 4,000 foot elevation gain. It should be noted that the Super Trail is closed until November 16th due to aggressive bear activity.
