UA Skin Cancer Center kicks off 6th annual Melanoma Walk Saturday

With 3.5 million new skin cancer cases diagnosed each year, the Skin Cancer Institute at the University of Arizona Cancer Center will be holding an event to promote skin protection.

The sixth annual Melanoma Walk will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, at the University Cancer Center, located at 3838 N. Campbell Ave.

The event will offer a 1.5 mile walk, free cancer screenings by appointment, fundraising prizes, giveaways, music, a silent auction and activities for children. The pet and family-friendly walk begins at 4 p.m.

Registration for the walk is $30 for adults, $15 for children between the ages of 6 and 12 and free for children under 5 years.

The proceeds of the event will support melanoma research, community outreach, education and patient care in Arizona. The walk aims to raise $60,000.
