TUCSON - An executive with an international employment agency has been arrested on 24 counts of voyeurism.
Pima County Sheriff's detectives served a search warrant and found three cameras. Two cameras were placed in the women's bathroom and one was mounted underneath Jason Hooks' desk.
Investigators are asking anyone who went to 4555 S. Palo Verde Rd. looking for a job at Cortech, to please call 351-8488 . This is for anyone who went there from 2012 to the present.
Cortech International has been cooperating with the investigation.
The company terminated 39-year-old Jason Hooks last week.
Detectives said the initial forensic examination of the evidence they seized on July 2 revealed images of multiple women using the bathroom.
"People were filmed in an area where you expect the most privacy possible," Tom Peine, a spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff's Department said. "We don't know to which degree this has been exploited and that's what detectives are currently looking into."
Detectives became aware of the hidden cameras when someone put their car in reverse outside of Cortech. The vehicle's backup camera revealed a bathroom stall.
Detectives also searched the space next to Cortech, because the area was once occupied by Hooks. The space is currently a Barber Shop. Jesse Blankenship owns and operates the shop. She said it's very disturbing. She asked, who sets up surveillance cameras in the bathroom?
News 4 Tucson went to Jason Hooks house to get his side of the story. No one answered. A neighbor told us he knew the Hooks family and was shocked to hear about the 24 counts of voyeurism.
Neighbors also learned that Hooks is a Level 1 registered sex offender.
Cortech officials said Jason Hooks worked for Staff Logics and came to Cortech when they purchased that company two years ago.
In response to Hooks' alleged voyeurism, the sheriff's department set up a tip line on Monday, July 13. The tip line number is 351-8488.
