The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world, and helps raise significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer.

Up to 75 percent of the funds raised at the race remain in the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Southern Arizona, to provide breast health research, diagnostics, screening, treatment, services and education for uninsured or underinsured women. The remaining 25 percent goes to fund national research to discover the causes of breast cancer and, ultimately, its cures.

The 14th Annual Race for the Cure in Southern Arizona will be held on March 25, 2012.

The race will be at Reid Park, starting from the Country Club entrance.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2011, News 4 Tucson and the Susan G. Komen Foundation teamed up to introduce "Buddy Check 4," a free program that sends a monthly text alert to your phone, telling you to perform a breast cancer self-exam, or to remind a buddy to do so.
