After trailing 14-7 in the 2nd quarter, the host Sabino Sabercats ran off 24 unanswered points en route to a 31-14win over Cienega in Thursday night's season opener.

The Salpointe Football team opened up their 2012 Training Camp. After getting upset in the 1st round of the playoffs last fall the Lancers are looking to make a deep playoff run this season.

TUCSON - Amphitheater high school head football coach Vern Friedli has announced his retirement after 36 seasons at the school.
Among Friedli's credentials are an Arizona-record 331 career wins, a state championship in 1979, plus five of his players at Amphi went on to play in the NFL.

Ironwood Ridge senior running back/defensive back Mitch Fischer has been named the News 4 Tucson High School Football Player of the Year.
Fischer rushed for over 2,000 yards in the helping lead the Nighthawks to a spot in the Division II state semifinal.
Fischer remains undecided on his college choice but he has received interest from a number of Division I-AA schools, including North Dakota St.
