Wrong date printed on Ariz. voting documents

PHOENIX (AP) - Maricopa County election officials say the wrong date was printed on a Spanish-language mailing containing a voter registration card.

County Election spokeswoman Yvonne Reed said Thursday a voter who obtained an over-the-counter ID card noticed the attached document stated the election date as Nov. 8.

The election is scheduled for Nov. 6.

Reed says it was an isolated incident. Reed says about 50 voter-ID cards contained in the same mailers have been issued over-the-counter this year at three locations. County election officials have not heard from any other voters regarding the issue.

The county recorder's office says their program has been updated to reflect the right dates in both English and Spanish.

So far, election officials estimate they have mailed new voter-ID cards to nearly 2 million Maricopa County voters.
