TUCSON - A woman gunned down at her east side apartment complex on June 4 is undergoing multiple surgeries. Her family blaming a former co-worker who they say was stalking her.
Heather Yager was shot 10 times at close range. She managed to call 9-1-1 and also tell paramedics who the gunman was.
Younger sister Sarah Boring describes Heather as, positive, upbeat, always smiling, and always willing to help. In other words an awesome person. According to family members, Heather had just locked the door and was heading to work when she turned around and came face to face with gunman. He shot her and then took off. The family says he wanted a relationship with Heather, and she said no. Friends say there was never anything romantic between the two, they just worked together.
The sister says, "For all that she's been through she's doing good she's stable right now and we are just taking it one day at a time."
The family is coming forward because they want to get the message out, that if someone is stalking you, or if you know of somebody being stalked to speak out, to contact police, or get an order of protection. The family says, they don't want others to go through the pain they are going thru right now.
They also tell News 4, police have made an arrest. The suspect was picked up in California.
A fund has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank it's called the Heather Yager donation fund.
