TUCSON - A 21-year-old woman was traumatized after being assaulted near 4th Avenue last weekend.
On August 10, Hailey Hagan left a bar around 2 a.m. She went to a house on 5th Street near 4th Avenue. She somehow got tied up in a fight involving her friends and another group of people.
"It's possible that it was some kind of setup and someone's not telling the truth," she said. "But it was most likely random because none of us had ever seen them before."
Another woman grabbed Hagan's hair and pulled her to the ground.
"I'm probably not the first person they have done it to," she said. "I was kicked in the head by a man. What kind of people do that?"
She had cuts and bruises all over her head and body so she had a friend take her to a hospital. They did not steal anything.
Tucson Police submit data to CrimeReports.com. That site shows a concentration of assaults in the bar areas.
But some people who regularly drink on 4th Avenue said there is nothing to worry about.
"I don't think I've ever seen a fight around here," Thalia Zarate said. "No. Drunk people being drunk, but nothing too crazy."
Ramon Ibarra said he regularly walks home through the neighborhood west of 4th Avenue and does not have any problems.
"I have not seen any of that. No bar fights," he said. "Even after the parties are over, I haven't seen arguments or anything like that."
But Hagan said she is worried about going out anymore.
"I don't want them to ever do that to anybody else," she said. "It's unfair. They're going to get caught eventually. And they're going to have to pay for it."
