WITTMANN, Ariz. (AP) - A man described as an animal hoarder has been found dead in his Wittmann mobile home and authorities say he was partially eaten by his pets.
Marciopa County Sheriff's officials say the body of 78-year-old Jerry Brown was discovered Tuesday and he likely died about a week ago.
Sheriff's deputies conducted a welfare check after a neighbor says he hadn't seen Brown since July 27 and there was a foul smell coming from the home.
Deputies found the body in a bed inside the home and say there were about 50 dogs and cats in the trailer home and on the property.
No cause of death has been determined.
A neighbor says conditions inside Brown's trailer home were deplorable with animal feces and empty food boxes littering the floors
