TUCSON - The fire burning on state land, south of Sierra Vista near the U.S./Mexico border, is spreading north towards the Parker Canyon Lake area at this time, officials state.
Cochise County Sheriff's officials state the fire was first reported at Montezuma Pass in the Coronado National Forest, with most of the fire on the Mexican side of the border. As of 12:45 p.m., the fire is traveling north towards Lochiel Canyon in the Parker Canyon Lake Area.
It is still away from the foothills, officials state, but running steadily north due to gusting winds at periodic intervals.
The Palominas Fire Department has sent a water tender to assist.
Below is a Google Map showing the approximate location of the fire.
