TUCSON - University of Arizona football has announced a future home-and-home series with Mississippi State University of the Southeastern Conference.
The Wildcats and the Bulldogs will battle for the first time on the gridiron in 2022 at Arizona Stadium in Tucson. In 2023, the two teams will face off in Starkville in Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field. The opening game in 2022 will be Arizona's first against an SEC opponent since a 2006 match-up with LSU.
"We're excited to announce this competitive series for our future football schedules," Arizona Athletics Director Greg Byrne said. "The opportunity to play an SEC opponent will be a great addition to our schedule for our program and our fans."
Arizona has posted back-to-back 8-5 campaigns and postseason victories in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl and the AdvoCare V100 Bowls in 2012 and 2013. In Rich Rodriguez's third season at the helm of the program, the Wildcats return 44 letter-winners from 2013 and are led by a class of 19 seniors in 2014.
Tickets for the 2014 football season are on sale and start at $99 for seven home games. Tickets can be purchased at ArizonaWildcats.com/footballtickets or by contacting the McKale Center Ticket Office (520-621-CATS).
