TUCSON - After a down day for the monsoon our storm chances increase into the work week.
Southern Arizona saw a few storms to wrap up the weekend but widespread showers and scattered storms return Monday evening. According to Meteorologist John Patrick, an upper level system moving in from the east will bring us our most active monsoon weather of the year so far.
Count on showers and storms starting in Graham, Greenlee and Cochise Counties starting Monday evening. As this system moves to the west our storm chances will increase for Pima County heading into Tuesday. From Monday night through Tuesday some areas may see over an inch of rain with localized amounts up to three inches.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for areas east of Tucson starting Monday evening through Tuesday. This means conditions are favorable for widespread flash flooding as heavy rains fall on already saturated ground.
