Widespread freeze tonight, more rain and snow on the way

TUCSON - Old Man Winter has made his return to Southern Arizona.

Valley rain and mountain snow showers have started to taper off this evening but the chilly air is here to stay, according to Meteorologist John Patrick. A strong low pressure trough hanging over the southwest will bring freezing overnight lows to Tucson tonight right on through Wednesday morning. Temperatures expected to be between 28-32 degrees during this period for Tucson while most of Cochise, Graham and Greenlee Counties wake up to hard freeze conditions below 28 degrees.

Another impulse is expected to push through Southern Arizona on Monday reinforcing our cold air and bringing another round of valley rain and mountain snow. Best timing for showers looks like Monday afternoon into Monday evening.

Warming trend starts by Valentine's Day Thursday with the mid 60s returning under sunny skies. For a recap of this morning's desert snowfall visit John Patrick's Weather Blog and for a look into your complete True View 4 extended forecast click here.
