(NBC) - Valentine's Day is the holiday that tugs on your heart strings and your wallet.
The tough economy has put the squeeze on budgets, but Americans are still expected to spend nearly nine percent more than last year, pouring out their hearts to the tune of nearly $18 billion .
Florists will rake in $2 billion alone this Valentine's Day.
Sweets also top the shopping lists.
Retailers say it's the final days and sometimes final hours leading up to Valentine's Day will be their busiest time.
The possibilities are endless, experts say, if you remember to keep it real and leave the rest up to Cupid.
