TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) A flash flood watch has been issued for southeastern and south-central Arizona until 9 p.m. Thursday.
The National Weather Service says the flood watch covers the cities of Oracle, Safford, Nogales, Sierra Vista, Sells and Tucson.
Forecasters say there is an increased threat of widespread heavy rainfall Thursday across much of the area because of a very moist air mass combined with a weather disturbance tracking north out of northern Mexico.
The storms will be capable of producing very heavy rainfall which could lead to flash flooding Thursday afternoon and evening.
Forecasters say conditions are becoming favorable for widespread flash flooding to develop.
