Weather service issues flash flood warning

PHOENIX (AP) The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a flash flood warning for west- central Gila County and northeastern Maricopa County until 9:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Trained weather spotters reported flash flooding from a thunderstorm over the warning area.

Locations in the warning include but are not limited to Tonto Basin, Punkin Center, Sunflower and Tortilla Flat.

Washes that are affected include Tonto Creek, Reno Creek, Park Creek, Chalk Spring Creek, Bumble Bee Creek, Greenback Creek, Sycamore Creek in Gila County, Sycamore Creek in Maricopa County and Cottonwood Creek.

Forecasters say normally dry washes and streams can suddenly have running water and make unbridged crossings impassable.
