TUCSON - As the holiday season draws closer, the American Red Cross, Southern Arizona Chapter, and members of G.R.E.E.N. Program, a Grace Temple community outreach program, want to help decrease the chances of house fires, which grow to their highest this time of year.

With visiting family and guests, people are easily distracted, especially when it comes to the kitchen. According to Richard White, Regional CEO, and American Red Cross Southern Arizona Chapter, home fires likely start in the kitchen because of these distractions.

The American Red Cross and G.R.E.E.N. Program members will be handing out fire safety "Door Hangers" and replacement smoke alarm batteries, provided by Batteries Plus, Saturday November 17, 2012 from 10 a.m. until noon.

They will be giving out the items at four locations, two Walgreens locations, 1900 S. 6th street & 605 W. Ajo Way, and two Family Dollar locations, 2051 E. Irvington & 605 E. Grant Road.
