TUCSON - The phrase "volunteering has its rewards" has never been truer.
Disney is giving away free park passes to volunteers across America, including right here in Southern Arizona.
Between office errands, cleaning and baking, 10 year old Mason Carr keeps busy at the Ronald McDonald House.
The 5th grader volunteers every Tuesday with his grandma Judy.
"I've been a volunteer 21 and a half years," says Judy Goddard.
Helping out of town families, with sick children feel comfortable, is number one on their to-do list.
"Being able to talk to the families, maybe to encourage when they're having a bad day. I love to see families that get to go home," says Goddard.
The Ronald McDonald house is one of several charities participating in Disney's "Give a day Get a day." To sign up, go to Disneyparks.com.
Most programs require 12 hours of volunteer service in exchange for a one day free pass to Disneyland or Walt Disney World.
You must be 18 to register, but in some cases volunteers can be as young as six.
Pat Williams says entire families; up to eight people can sign up.
"I have been overwhelmed, getting about 100 emails a day from people," says Williams.
Making it a win win for everyone.
"I think it's never too young to teach a child about giving back and that was my goal and I think he's got it," says Goddard.
"Disney Land, and Disney World is of course a magical place, and volunteering can give you a magical feeling about what you can do to help someone else," adds Williams.
And after earning their Disney park pass, Williams hopes volunteers will continue their service.
Disney hopes to inspire one million people to volunteer a day of service. You have until December 15th to register and redeem your free ticket.
The Ronald McDonald house is one of several charities participating in Disney's give a day, get a day. The reponse to volunteer at the Ronald McDonal House was so high, they've run out of Disney Passes. However there are still several other volunteer oportunities at other Tucson area charities.
