TUCSON - About a dozen volunteers spent Saturday morning cleaning up the area around a memorial for Tucson police officer Erik Hite.
Some of the volunteers were members of the Tucson Police Officer's Association.
They gather two to three times a year to pull weeds and pick up trash and garbage at La Mariposa Resort on Houghton Road.
Officer Hite's family joined in, working alongside volunteers to spruce up the area.
Hite was shot and killed during a shooting rampage in June of 2008.
