TUCSON - To mark National Hunting and Fishing Day, volunteers from several agencies including the Arizona Game and Fish Department, Pima County Department of Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources and Davis-Monthan Air Force Base cleaned up a gravel pit southeast of Tucson.
The makeshift shooting site is located beneath large T.E.P. electric transmission lines.
Illegal target practice in the area has caused more than $100,000 in damage to nearby equipment serving Tucson Electric Power customers.
Volunteers are working to encourage shooting enthusiasts to target practice responsibly and legally.
