TUCSON - Volunteers honored the 9/11 anniversary by fighting graffiti with art.
The Tucson Arts Brigade cleaned up murals near 29th Street and Columbus Boulevard Sunday afternoon.
Grace Snyder lives across the street from the volunteer site and brought food and water.
"They go out of their way to do something for us, and they do beautiful artwork," she said, "it's really nice."
Michael Schwartz has helped clean the same overpass a few times.
"It is a back and forth, a tug of war with the taggers," he said. "But we know, once we meet the young people that are tagging, if they can see what we're doing, it does inspire them."
He said it is a great way to serve the neighborhood after 9/11.
"We want community, and love, and compassion to come out of that," Schwartz said, "to take something negative, turn it into something positive."
