CATALINA - A candlelight vigil was held for a man hit and killed while walking down the street.
It happened Tuesday morning in Catalina.
Deputies say 24-year-old Andrew Perez is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, involving death.
He's accused of running down 22-year-old Jacob Lee Wyckoff with his truck.
On Wednesday, the Sheriff's Department confirmed that Perez was behind the wheel 10 years ago, when his then
10-year-old brother jumped on the hood and fell under the moving vehicle. The boy died days later.
Wyckoff's family gathered to honor his memory in a candlelight memorial, gathering at the spot where loved ones say the 22 year old was left for dead.
Marking the spot are candles, photos and keepsakes honoring Wyckoff's life.
Deputies say he was found lying in the roadway in the 15-thousand block of North Twin Lakes Drive in Catalina.
Family members are still trying to accept he's gone, let alone how it happened.
His mom Julie Rogiers says she's been reading his Bible and journal as a way to stay connected.
She hopes something positive can come from her loss.
The man accused of taking her son's life has been booked into the Pima County Jail. The Sheriff's Department says the investigation is ongoing.
