Phoenix was hit by the storms, too. Heavy rains sent water rushing through washes and flooded homes in Scottsdale. Here's a timelapse video from photographer Bryan Snider of the storm coming in on the east Valley.
Nearly 2,000 Tucson Electric Power customers on the eastside had their power knocked out by the storms. Winds snapped power poles along Houghton between Valencia and Escalante roads. Of those, 215 customers were still without power until Sunday evening.
Floods and downed power lines disrupted traffic, closing dozens of roads, including spots along Houghton Road, Ajo Highway and Camino de la Tierra.
Tucson International Airport picked up an eighth of an inch of rain in about one hour, bringing our monsoon total to over 2.5 inches. Tucson has seen 1.39 inches of average rainfall since the monsoon started June 15. That's about an inch above normal, Storm Alert meteorolgist John Patrick reported.
