TUCSON - Get ready for the Feats of Strength and the Airing of Grievances - A Festivus for the rest of us is coming back to Tucson!
PJ Subs, located at 2500 E. 6th St., will hold the celebration, beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 23. The "Airing of Grievances" begins at 7 p.m. The $5 event will also feature a full bar with drink tickets, a hot dog, entertainment, and an aluminum pole.
The mock-holiday, created by the character Frank Costanza in a 1997 episode of NBC's Seinfeld, involves an unadorned aluminum pole ("I find tinsel distracting," Frank explains), an "Airing of Grievances," where guests share how they've disappointed each other in the last year, and a "Feats of Strength," where Frank attempts to wrestle his son George.
Proceeds from the $5 admission will go to Coaches for Charity, a non-profit organization that raises scholarship funds for high school athletes whose careers were cut short due to illness or injury.
"Festivus is such a unique tradition we have re-created in Tucson and we are now into our 15th year celebrating this entertaining holiday. Each year it's bigger and better and a ball of laughs," said Janet Hare, event organizer. "We are really excited about another enjoyable celebration and the coming together of wonderful friends and family."
