TUCSON - The victim in yesterday's fatal traffic collision in midtown has been identified by Tucson Police.
Officers responded to the intersection of Grand and Dodge yesterday at about 10:10 a.m. to find 44-year-old Marta I. Kellogg suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital where she died a short time later, police say.
Based on evidence collected by traffic detectives, a 25-year-old man was traveling west on Grant Road when he rear-ended another vehicle traveling west. Both vehicles pulled into a parking lot to exchange information - but the 25-year-old male left the parking lot before the exchange.
Police say he continued west on Grant, running the red light at Grant and Dodge and colliding with the victim, who was traveling south on Dodge through the green light.
The vehicles collided, and Kellogg sustained life-threatening injuries. The 25-year-old male and the driver and passenger in the car he rear-ended sustained minor injuries, and they were all transported to a nearby hospital, police say.
Police say that it does not appear that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident. Charges against the 25-year-old male are pending.
